Program Overview

Milwaukee Area Technical College offers an online degree that strives to develop student’s management techniques as well as teach the fundamentals of business. The  Business Management Associate Degree is designed to act as the beginning of a four-year bachelor's degree relating to business or management. Graduates of this program have the potential to transfer the credits earned into many four-year accredited colleges or university's. Academic advisors will be available to assist students in selecting electives that are most likely to transfer into the program of their choice. Students who have an interest in entering employment directly after graduating can choose a Career Emphasis academic path, which is designed for more technical office and business skills.

This degree program can typically be finished within two years. The curriculum consists of 68 credit hours of management, business and general elective classes. Students will learn how to make well-researched and proven policy plans to improve multiple business areas; this includes a look at how to best use a company’s resources and staff to achieve goals. The people are one of the most important aspects of successfully running a business, and this degree includes behavioral science classes that will allow students to better understand the motivations of their employees. The program also includes classes in financial studies as well, to insure that students understand the economic and profit factors that affect business.

All classes are offered online and in a self-paced system. Students will be able to access class materials and assignments at any point during the week.

    School Overview

    Milwaukee Area Technical College is a public, two-year institution of higher education, located in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. MATC was founded in 1912 as the Continuation School after Charles McCarthy asked State Legislature to pass a law creating a statewide network of continuation schools. Today, MATC offers classes at campuses in downtown Milwaukee, Oak Creek, West Allis, and Mequon. The Mequon Campus features the largest wind turbine on a college campus in the state.

    Milwaukee Area Technical College offers degree, diploma, certificate and apprentice programs. Many students who attend MATC plan to earn a bachelor’s degree by transferring to a four-year college. Accelerated programs are offered for full-time working adults, as well as online programs for degrees, diplomas, and certificates from all of MATC's schools.
