Program Details

Recent graduates with an accredited Social Work bachelor’s degree can apply for a one-year Advanced Standing program with the online master’s in Social Work degree from MSU Denver. Students will be prepared to work effectively across multiple systems to advance individual and community wellbeing and social justice. Core components of the program include teaching, service, research, and collaboration. Graduates will be able to pursue professions such as clinician, therapist, organizer, and activist. 

Students can choose from three optional pathways:

  • Children and Families: Learn to work with abused and neglected youth, their families and caregivers, and support social service agencies and the Department of Human Services system.
  • Mental Health: Prepare to work with individuals and groups dealing with behavioral, mental health, and substance abuse concerns.
  • Leadership and Management: Examine how to take on a leadership role such as program manager, agency director, policy analyst, program evaluator, or community organizer.
