Program Details

Marshall University offers a Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education designed for certified and licensed teachers in elementary education who want a Pre-K endorsement on their professional license.  This certificate seeks to combine theory, research, and practical applications to child development education.

The Certificate is a 21 credit hour program of seven courses.  The class curriculum includes: Early Childhood Education: Early Childhood Programs, Early Childhood Education: Adult Involvement in Early Education, Language and Cognition in Early Childhood, Administration of Childhood Programs, Human Growth and Development Birth-8, Early Childhood Education: Practicum in Early Childhood Education, and a choice between Applications Software in the Classroom Curriculum Area or Instructional Design and Technology or Using the Internet in the Classroom.

Applicants should apply for admission as a Certificate/Professional Development student, hold a valid K-6 or K-8 professional license, and complete a gainful employment disclosure so that informed decisions can be made about the program.
