Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies
Marist College offers a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts that meets students, needs and academic aspirations in an easy online format. Available areas of concentration include American Studies, Communication and the Arts, Data Center Technologies, Economics, Information Systems, Informational Technology and Systems, On-Demand with Enterprise Systems, Project Management, and Psychology. The total number of credit hours in the curriculum is 120. The student's concentration area accounts for 24 of those credit hours.
Apart from the inpidual's choice of concentration, there are four other required areas for the successful completion of the Liberal Arts degree. The first is the Professional Studies Concentration (21 hrs.) which includes courses in Interpersonal Communication, Economics of Social Issues, Introduction to Global Issues, Issues in Leadership, Management Information Systems, Behaviors in Organizations, and Introduction to Public Policy.
The Liberal Studies Core (18 hrs.) required classes are World Views and Values, Perspectives on Education, Perspectives on Humanities, Perspectives on Social Institutions, Perspectives on Science and History, and a Capping course.
There are two required courses in Writing.
The final area is the students choice of 51 hours in Elective courses (these can be taken at Marist and/or transferred in from other sources). The Business Minor option is fulfilled if 21 hours of electives fall under that category.
