The Field of Study in Communication curriculum is designed to satisfy the lower division requirements for a bachelor's degree in a specific area at four-year colleges in the state of Texas. Credits earned in Field of Study curriculum transfer to other four year colleges in the state of Texas.
Courses in speech are offered to provide instruction to students who are preparing for careers in the communication fields, preparing to teach, seeking to satisfy the General Education requirement for a course in oral communications, and pursuing the study of communications for personal enrichment. The curriculum prepares students for transfer to a university for completion of a baccalaureate degree in speech communication. The total number credits for Field of Study in Speech Communication AA is 60.

Lone Star College System is a two-year public school located in The Woodlands, Texas. The school began in 1972 as North Harris County College and the school’s name changed to the current name in 2007. The college has five branch campuses (CyFair, Kingwood, Montgomery, North Harris, Tomball) and two university centers (University Center in the Woodlands, University Park in Harris County).
Lone Star College System offers certificates of completion and associate’s degrees. Continuing education, professional development, and courses for high school students are also offered. Classes are offered during the daytime, evening, and weekend. LSCS has partnerships with many four-year universities so that students can obtain bachelors and masters degrees at one of the two University Centers. Many degrees and certificates are offered 100% online, as well as individual courses.
