Liberty University has designed the Associate of Arts in Paralegal Studies degree in an online format to suit the busy lifestyles of working adults.  The flexible online curriculum gives professional students the opportunity to earn a valuable degree towards educational goals or to advance in future career aspirations.      

Liberty University’s Associate of Arts program provides students with the critical stepping stones in the legal field with a foundation of knowledge and skill to be well prepared careers within related fields.  The challenging legal profession demands strong professional skills, a firm foundation in ethics and increasingly higher levels of knowledge.  Liberty University’s Paralegal Studies course curriculum will prepare students for success by teaching the practical skills and academic knowledge necessary to succeed in the competitive job market.  The paralegal program is developed and taught by practicing lawyers who in addition to knowing the required qualifications, teach practically and efficiently on relevant subject matter.   

Student of the legal studies program will develop a strong understanding in key areas including the fundamentals of law, performing title searches, writing depositions, contemporary worldviews and real estate transactions.  The underlying focus of the degree program will be to use the course curriculum to ethically analyze, identify and appropriately conduct business with a sound moral and biblical perspective.  A graduate of the program should be able to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to formulate solutions, evaluate strategies and follow through with solution methodologies.  The Associate of Arts in Paralegal Studies serves as the foundation for a student to pursue higher educational goals by earning a Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies, which is also available through Liberty University Online.

Graduates of the degree program will develop the oral and written communication skills necessary to advance in professional fields.  The learned coursework builds on the students' leadership and managerial assets to confidently pursue future career opportunities and certifications.  Earning the Associate of Arts in Paralegal degree will give students the vital resources to understand the internal workings of the legal system.

The flexible and unique online format delivers courses through a virtual classroom, where all coursework will be submitted online to instructors.  The 60-credit-hour degree program is comprised of 39 general education courses covering topics in sciences, math, English, humanities, communications and the arts.  The remaining 21 credit hours culminate the core legal curriculum by delving into administration, casework, corrections, counseling, clerking and claims adjusting.
