Master of Science in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations
Lasell College offers the Master of Science in Communication degree with a specialization in Public Relations for individuals in marketing who are interested in careers relating to the development of public relations, promotions, and interpersonal communications relating to the promotion of brand, organization, product, or service. Students will learn about the processes involved in designing, developing, testing, implementing, and measuring the impact of communications designed to manage and improve the brand image of organizations, products, and other consumer and branded items. In addition, students will cover legal and ethical issues relating to the creation of value in communication, brand management, and reputation management.
Students will focus on a curriculum that involves the development of communication strategies which emphasize public relations. Some of the classes include communication, ethics, and society, organizational communication, media relations, negotiation and conflict resolution, persuasion and public opinion, graphic design for the marketplace, corporate communication, and writing for public relations.
Upon completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the necessary professional and educational qualifications for roles involving communications and public relations. These qualifications include but are not limited to: the ability to demonstrate an understanding of theory, tools, skills, practices, and research related to communications and the utilization of media to communicate interpersonally and broadcasting, to develop a range of professional communication strategies that promote their effectiveness in business environments and other environments and to demonstrate an understanding ethical, legal, and display responsible behavior to prevent intentional or unintentional miscommunication.

Lasell College is a four-year private school located in Newton, Massachusetts. Lasell College was founded in 1851 as the Auburndale Female Seminary, a nationally respected women’s academy, by Edward Lasell. Lasell died the first semester that the school was running. The name changed to Lasell Seminary for Young Women and was known as an innovative institution that had a radical approach (for the time) to women’s education. In 1932, the school’s name changed again to Lasell Junior College and became Lasell College in 1989.
Lasell College offers bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees. LC has traditional classes as well as online courses. Lasell’s graduate programs are flexible and convenient, so students pursue an advanced degree that fits into their personal and professional lives. All master's degrees are offered online with six start dates throughout the year.
