Program Overview

The Laramie County Community College programs, such as the Associate of Applied Science in Accounting program, offer online courses that are flexible, convenient and provide a quality education. The A.A.S. in Accounting program is not designed for students to transfer to four-year educational institutions like the A.S. in Accounting program at LCCC. Students within the A.A.S in Accounting program will strengthen the skills that are required for entry-level and supervisory positions within accounting work settings such as government and industry.

The program will require students to complete a total of 68-69 credits in order to graduate. Some courses that will be offered in the third semester are Cost Accounting, Payroll Accounting, Microcomputer Accounting I, Personal Financial Planning, Risk and Credit Management, Investment/Retirement Planning, Business Communication. Courses that are taken for a S/U (satisfactory/unsatisfactory) grade will not be able to apply to the degree requirements.

Students will learn a variety of concepts within the program's accounting courses. Some topics that are covered are reporting accounting information, managerial cost accounting, budgeting, international accounting, and financial statement preparation. Instructors will teach students the theory and concepts for financial accounting information systems, the Income Statement, and Statement of Cash Flows. Students will also cover subjects in business, economics, marketing, and management.
