Professional Preparation Program for Superintendent Certification
The Professional Preparation Program for Superintendent Certification from Lamar University consists of 18 credit hours. Students take courses over a five-week time span focusing on finance, ethical standards, allocation of funds, student safety, and energy management. Students are expected to participate in two internships where they expand their portfolio and develop a professional development plan.
Graduate students interested in pursuing a Superintendent Certification will need a Master’s degree, and one year of administration experience. To be approved to take the Superintendent Certification exam, applicants need to show proof of completion of the following three courses (or equivalents): School-Community Relations, School Law, and Human Resources Development.
Available to those who have a Principal or Mid-Management Certification, students are able to participate in the Preparation Program for Superintendent Certification. To be eligible for the program, one year of practical administrative experience is required.
