Independence University belongs to a family of colleges and universities with educational roots dating back to 1891. In 1978, IU began to offer education at a distance and operated as California College for Health Sciences. In 2005 it became Independence University, a name that more accurately reflects the institution’s broader range of programs and its philosophy that education should lead to greater independence.
Today, IU is comprised of four schools: the School of Healthcare, the School of Business, the School of Technology, and the School of Graphic Arts. Independence University offers a wide selection of employment-focused online programs to help students launch or advance a career with associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees.
