Program Details

Quickly enter the healthcare field with this online medical billing and coding degree.  Students earn this certificate in 2 consecutive semesters without leaving their hometowns.  Courses, using a module format, cover medical terminology, health care structure and medical record content, diagnostic coding, outpatient coding, and more.  Graduates are familiar with:

• ICD-10
• CPT
• HCPCS
• Common types of medical insurance    
• Computerized medical billing systems

The curriculum meets with AAPC and AHIMA’ s approval, so graduates are able to take the certified professional coder and certified coding associate exams.  They are also eligible to sit for the certified professional coder-hospital and certified coding specialist’s exams but are encouraged to gain two years of work experience prior to attempting these exams.
