The Associate of Arts in Economics degree offered by Front Range Community College is a program of study that is available to students in a completely online format. This program is a transferable degree that is designed specifically for individuals who plan to matriculate into a 4-year baccalaureate program at a university or college and to major in Economics.
Students who are new to the field of economics as well as paraprofessional accounting personnel may both have their current and future professional needs met in order to gain positions in business, industry, government, and other economic organizations. Certain courses coupled with the general education requirements help students build a foundational set of skills and knowledge related to the competencies of higher education and the field of business. Students work with their faculty advisors to build a course of study that best fits their personal interests and professional and educational needs.
This program requires students to fulfill 60 credit hours of courses in order to graduate with this degree. Students may gain important competencies in a wide variety of subject matters and hone their critical thinking skills and analysis. Students must take courses in the following subject areas: English, Mathematics, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural or Physical Sciences. Students take 23 credit hours in Business related courses. These foundational courses include, but are not limited to Accounting Principles I and II, Introduction to Business, Legal Environment of Business, Business Communication and Report Writing, and Business Statistics.
