The Master of Arts in Kinesiology: Sport Administration Emphasis degree offered by Fresno Pacific University is a program of study intended for students with a background sport administration or students who are currently employed as sport administrators. This program aims to provide advanced studies in not only sport leadership and administration, but also in sport marketing, sport sales, and sponsorship. Through an interdisciplinary approach to education, this program aims to equip its students with the competencies needed to become effective sport administrators. Students are required to complete clinical experiences during the fall and spring semesters.
This program aims to equip its students with advanced skills and knowledge relating to not only Kinesiology, but also to Sport Administration. A student enrolled in this program will learn how to prepare risk-management assessments of their chosen career in order to minimize legal liability. This program covers topics such as how to develop, implement, and evaluate sport marketing or promotional strategies for their chosen career or field. Students will also learn other business competencies such as how to prepare and assess a sport sales and sponsorship plan for their chosen field or profession.
Students must complete 36 credit hours in order to graduate. The Kinesiology Courses include: Technology and Kinesiology, Legal Aspects of Kinesiology and Sport, and Psychology of Sports, among others. Students then complete a Master of Arts core of Research Methods in Kinesiology and Values in Kinesiology and Sport and choose a culmination option. The options include: the course option, the thesis option, and the comprehensive examination option. These options convey the level of advancement that a student has achieved through the course of this program. This program may take approximately 14 months to complete and starts in each spring and summer semester. A student may potentially waive some prerequisites for every year of verified, full-time physical education teaching or coaching experience.
