Forsyth Technical Community College offers a flexible Associates degree in Criminal Justice Technology. A Criminal Justice Technology degree is extremely versatile in the workforce. Many students can use this degree to get a feel for the judicial system and how it operates; many students choose to pursue a career in law and potentially attend law school. This degree specifically explains how technology is utilized in the judicial system. Students choose to use their degree to pursue careers as a corrections facility officer, U.S. Marshal, probation officer, court administrative worker, or juvenile detention personnel. Overall, the degree exposes students to the fundamentals of law and public policy and how technology applies. Students also learn to investigate the causes and effects of crime in society and ways to work towards social change. Forsyth Technical Community College is unique in that it requires students to take a 16-week spring internship with a local criminal justice agency. This will allow students to fully experience the role of the criminal justice systems. All of the Justice Studies instructors in this program all have field experience in some phase of law enforcement. In order to succeed students are encouraged to pay special attention to detail establish a high morality and have a strong desire to help other. Specific courses students will take to complete the Associate’s degree are as follows: Intro to Criminal Justice, Investigative Principles, Introduction to Computers, Criminology, Interpersonal Psychology, and more! The entire degree takes 5 semesters (including one summer session) and requires a total of 64 credit hours. On average students who graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice Technology make $28,000-32,000 a year.

Forsyth Technical Community College is a two-year, public institution of higher education located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Founded in 1960, FTCC has eight locations throughout North Carolina and offers a multitude of academic programs. Students can earn an associate degree, participate in transfer programs, or pursue certificates and diplomas. Additionally, more than 20 programs are offered entirely online.
