Ed.D. in Administrative Endorsement
East Tennessee State University offers the Doctor of Education in Administrative Endorsement degree for professionals seeking to establish themselves as contributing members of the educational community. The program is designed for students holding a Master of Specialist degree who seek advanced knowledge and skills in educational leadership and research. The program is intended for those who are developing their credentials and their knowledge fields related to educational leadership in K-12 education, post-secondary education, and private sector education. Students seeking entrance into the program will be screened to verify that the inpidual is a qualified candidate for the program. Students will be required to submit a residency portfolio of activities and complete a qualifying examination.
As part of the Administrative Endorsement concentration, students will focus on understanding and developing strategies to direct the character and program of an educational institution and create a positive and moralizing environment for students and educators. The focus on meeting the needs of inpiduals and groups and shaping the qualities of an educational institution, plus a focus of educational research form the basis of the curriculum.
As part of the core research program, students will undergo courses in educational statistics, quantitative research, and research in educational leadership, leadership studies, and theories of educational administration. The coursework for the concentration includes a study of interpersonal relations, professional needs of inpiduals and groups, developing learners through instructional leadership, implementation strategies, and shaping the quality and character of the institution. Doctoral candidates will be required to perform an internship as part of the program, and in order to achieve the doctorate, must pass a doctoral dissertation, representing a contributing research study on the field of school leadership.
