Program Details

The online Master of Social Work degree offers a concentration in Military Social Work at Dominican University.  This degree in social work is designed for individuals interested in helping service members, veterans, and their families manage the unique challenges they face.  You will learn to help this diverse population with such issues as:

  • Transitioning to Civilian Life
  • Dealing with Combat Traumas
  • Strained Family Lives
  • PTSD
  • Substance Abuse

The curriculum provides a deep understanding of military culture along with the distinct culture of the different service branches and the individual roles within them.  Students gain foundational knowledge in the core area of social work before beginning an in-depth, focused study of military-specific health issues and treatment, military culture and command structures, and policies and programs for military personnel.  Graduates will have earned both the Master of Social Work degree and the military concentration upon completion.
