Program Details

The online Education Specialist in Literacy program prepares professionals to provide leadership in reading at local and state levels.  The program is designed to help students achieve their academic and career goals on their own schedules but in an online atmosphere that mimics the on-campus experience, including collaboration and interaction with the professors and their peers.  Courses deal with the theories, methods, and materials for reading, reading instruction, language, language instruction, reading assessment, and diagnosis.  Courses include:

  • Coaching for Literacy Education
  • Methods of Teaching Writing in the Content Areas
  • Diversity in the Classroom
  • Foundations in Reading
  • Instructional Strategies for Reading
