BA in Healthcare Management
The Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare Management from Concordia University is designed for students looking to start or advance a career in the healthcare field. The science and technology of healthcare is advancing at an incredible pace, creating new and different job opportunities every day. This program seeks to provide its students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the fast-paced healthcare industry. Designed to build on an Associate's degree or the first years of another Bachelor's program, the flexible online BA in Healthcare Management can, on average, be completed in 18 months; students are able to take one course at a time for 5-week intervals.
Requiring 35 credit hours for completion, supplementing prior college credit, this degree program is broken up into 11 courses and one senior project. Since students only take one class at a time, they progress with the same group of peers, instilling a strong sense of community to foster critical thinking and discussion. Required courses include instruction in the legal issues of the healthcare industry, including medical laws, legislation and patient protection. Concordia has a strong commitment to ethics, so students will learn about ethical issues in the medical field, patient’s rights, and record keeping practices. The 4-credit senior project is split into two 1-credit and one 2-credit sections. Students will go through all the steps to specify an example problem in the healthcare field, evaluate and present those evaluation methods, and finally present their findings. Graduates of this program can expect to advance their careers in hospitals, clinics, health insurance agencies, nursing facilities, and other areas of the healthcare industry.
In order to qualify for this Bachelor's program, applicants must have at least 30 hours of credit from an accredited college or university, having maintained at least a 2.0 GPA, and have earned a C or better in the completion of one English Composition course.
