B.A. in Criminal Justice

Columbia College-SC offers an online Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice degree program for students interested in law enforcement, corrections, homeland security, etc. The application process consists of three steps. First, students must submit the free online application. After submitting the application, students must complete, sign, and submit the Transcript Release form, which is also found online. A copy of the individual’s driver’s license is required for Transcript Requests to the criminal justice academy. The final step is to file the Free Application for Federal Aid.
The B.A. in Criminal Justice program enrolls a cohort every five weeks. Each term lasts 25 weeks. The terms are broken up into five modules, or classes, that last five weeks. Each module is broken up into five units. Students spend one week in each unit and must complete and submit all assignments before moving on to the next unit.
In order to obtain the B.A. in Criminal Justice, students must complete a total of 127 semester hours. General education courses account for 33 of the required credit hours. Another 55 semester hours are earned through general electives that are part of the criminal justice program, approved transfer credit, and/or other Columbia College online courses. The final 39 semester hours are earned through the B.A. in Criminal Justice CORE Program Requirements.
General education requirements include courses covering a variety of topics and content, such as Orientation to Online Learning, Survey of World Literature, Liberal Arts Mathematics, Environmental Science with a Lab component, and Contemporary Cultures and World Views.
The CORE Program Requirements include courses directly related to professions in criminal justice, such as Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Courts, Criminology Theory, Ethics in Criminal Justice, and Professional Leadership in Criminal Justice.
