Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies for Teaching
Coastline Community College

Program Details

The online Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies for Teaching program offers future elementary school teachers an articulated transfer pathway and career ladder for a BA in Liberal studies and the multiple-subject teaching credential.  The curriculum focuses on content knowledge needed to teach in a K-8 setting and prepares students to teach in both regular and special education.  As a stand-alone degree without transfer, the AA meets requirements for elementary school paraprofessionals in regular or special education classrooms and is appropriate for students pursuing careers such as tutors or for parents providing homeschooling.

  • 18 years or older (if under 18, students must have graduated from high school, passed the California High School Certificate of Proficiency Test or the equivalent, or completed the 10th grade and received permission from their high school principal and parent to attend)
  • Placement tests for English and Math may be required
