Master of Science in Literacy Education

Program Details

Canisius College offers an online Master of Science in Literacy Education. This program is designed to teach literacy specialists focused on either pre-K through sixth grade or fifth grade through 12th grade. Literary specialists are trained professionals who provide reading and writing support to students in schools.

Requirements

The program requires a summer residency is noted for two courses. This residency is completed in two very full weeks on the Canisius campus and in surrounding schools. 

  • Official Bachelor's degree transcript
  • All applicants will be required to submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE), Millers Analogies Test (MAT), OR Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST), test scores
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Evidence of teaching certification

Restrictions

Two weeks will be spent in Buffalo, New York for an on-campus practicum.
