Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

Program Details

The online Advanced Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) prepares teachers to become TESOL specialists for grades K-12. There is a growing need for skilled teachers who are certified to teach non-English speakers, and this program is for those who already have a degree in an undergraduate program but want to strengthen their skills as teachers in this area.  Courses include Linguistics, Literacy, & Second Language Acquisition, Methods and Materials of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Methods of Teaching the Subject Areas in the Native Language, and Evaluation Assessment in Bilingual/TESOL Education.

Requirements

  • Official transcripts showing completion of a master's degree or higher
  • Preferred undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • GRE, MAT or ALST test scores
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Evidence of teaching certification
  • Evidence of 12 credit hours of college/university level credit in a language other than English
