Program Overview

California State University in Fullerton offers a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology degree to interested students. This program can be completed entirely through a virtual classroom, allowing students the flexibility to earn a degree to pursue advanced career opportunities. 

The Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology (MSIDT) is designed to prepare teaching professionals, both nationally and internationally, to further their abilities of blending new technology in education. Student teachers will learn about the skills needed to combine the direct application of emerging technology in current teaching, learning, training and curriculums. Graduate students already working in the field may expand their resources and career opportunities into other areas of education such as: curriculum development in grades Pre K-12, higher education, the military, medical, or corporate settings. The MS program also aims to provide graduates with versatility and confidence for a variety of careers and leadership roles.

Graduates should be able to incorporate theory and research techniques appropriate for adult learning and the knowledge to create curriculums relevant to many other learning environments. The online program may enhance a student teacher’s skills in project management, collaboration, written communication, media literacy, critical thinking and problem solving.

    • BA/BS degree from an accredited institution with a 2.5 cumulative GPA, in addition to a 3.0 GPA department requirement (GPA’s within 2.5 and 3.0 could be accepted conditionally based on review of resume, essay and interview).

    Number twelve: that describes the beginnings of California State University, Fullerton, in 1957, when the California Legislature approved the establishment of a 12th State College. Today, the University bears little resemblance to its founding. Located in Orange County, California, just thirty miles south of Los Angeles, Cal State Fullerton offers 100-plus undergraduate and graduate degrees, including doctorate degrees housed in nine colleges:

Courses are typically asynchronous, and students complete weekly assignments, including discussion boards. Cal State Fullerton also offers self-paced coursework through CD-ROMs.
