BA in Social Science
California State University in Chico offers undergraduate students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences through an innovative online blended learning format. The flexible online program may be ideal for busy professional students seeking an education to pursue advanced career options or to fulfill personal aspirations. Students of the BA degree will partake in the same program as students at the physical campus location, learning the essentials of becoming a social scientist.
Professionals in the field, called social scientists, study the dynamic relationships of individuals and groups within a specific society. The BA program will introduce students to the essential concepts associated with developing a solid understanding and sensitivity to global and local cultural systems. The multifaceted study will broaden a student’s knowledge of how individuals relate with one another.
Cal State Chico designated the BA in Social Science as a two part program. Students can partake in a Multidisciplinary Studies (Breadth) and/or a Specialization Studies (Depth) program. The programs differ by offering students a curriculum in either a broad area of studies in areas of liberal arts or as a focused program of study concentrating on Sociology or Career and Life Planning.
Successful students should be able to use the education to confidently pursue careers or position requiring an advanced knowledge of society and its intricacies such as a teacher, an urban developer or social worker. With the online program, busy students have the option of earning a valuable education, while still fulfilling current obligations with other individuals or establishments.
