Program Overview

California State University in Channel Islands offers graduate students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Students in this BS degree program will partake in the same program curriculum as students at the physical campus location, learning the essentials of business as outlined by the School of Business and Economics.

The business degree program provides future professional students the basic business skills and knowledge needed to enter the competitive business job market. Students will be introduced to topics of interest in business such as accounting, economics, and ethics. In addition to the core business courses, the bachelor’s curriculum is also comprised of general education courses, covering essential understandings of mathematics, literature, the natural and social science, humanities, and the arts.

Students who successfully complete this program should be able to use the education to confidently pursue careers or position requiring a foundation in business. Graduates who also seek to continue their education by pursuing a MBA from CSUCI may consider using the earned credit hours from the program to meet the prerequisites for the MBA program. Upon successful completion of the courses, graduate students should be able to cognitively explain, apply, measure, and evaluate the principles of business for critical decision-making in a high level position.

    School Overview

In 1911, the will of deceased Nancy Ann Donohoo Taylor requested that one-third of her assets be redirected towards the building of a university in Ventura County, California. By the turn of the century, the vision became a reality, and students entered California State University Channel Islands in 2002.

CSU Channel Islands confers undergraduate degrees, along with master’s degrees and postbaccalaureate certificates. For added flexibility, CSU Channel Islands does offer a number of online courses, and students can pursue a blended online Business Administration Certificate through the Extended University campus.
