Master of Science in Education: Specialization in Online Teaching and Learning
California Baptist University offers a Master of Science degree in Education with a Specialization in Online Teaching and Learning (MSOTL). The curriculum is 30 units: 15 units of core courses and 15 units of specialization requirements.
Students are encouraged to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually. The curriculum has a holistic approach; students develop strong moral character while developing a strong background in various topics of education. Christian perspectives are integrated into the coursework, which helps students develop a deeper understanding of how their values and faith relate to education; students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to become leaders in education.
The MS in Education with a Specialization in Online Teaching and Learning degree prepares students to further their skills and careers in various positions. Students will hone their current skills, which will enhance their professional development. The degree can be completed in as little as 12 months, if three full-time semesters in a year are taken. The classes are smaller, which allows students to have a higher degree of interaction among other colleagues and faculty. Students are also encouraged to build relationships with fellow colleagues, which also help develop team-building skills and interpersonal skills.
The MSOTL curriculum integrates theory, practice, and research, which allow students to understand concepts from a holistic perspective. Important topics of human growth and development, learning theories, curriculum design, and research methods are also integrated into the curriculum, which exposes the student to a variety of educational topics.
Courses encompass topics of: online teaching methods, theories of teaching and learning, educational research, international and comparative education, and several others.
