The MBA with an emphasis in Finance may provide students interested in the various strategies and principles, the tools necessary for understanding individual markets. Finance is the management of revenue and the delegation of wealth and profits amongst government institutions, company obligations, organizational subsidiaries, or individual accounts. The purpose of finance is how to best advise and allocate monetary funds and assets into profitable investments. The delicate balance of risk and certainty play into the factors deciding what avenues to fund in order to gain maximized profits. Graduate students may also use the advanced education to pursue several sought after designations to best fit personal and professional goals.

Students of the MBA degree in Finance should develop an intuitive and keen perception of the time value of money, and the appropriate risk taking skills to best suit the investing firm’s objectives. The flexible MBA program delves into core business aspects critical to the success of both, current and future employers and the graduates personal development. The core MBA courses expand on a student’s previous knowledge of business while also introducing management level concepts of: Financial Reporting, Data and Economic Analysis, Business Process and Innovation, Corporate Responsibility, Human Resources, Marketing and Organizational Dynamics, Development and Change.

Finance can be applied to many sectors, public finance, corporate finance and personal finance; and many private firms require an internal checks and balance system to ensure ethical practices and liability. Upon successful completion of the required courses, capstone project and elective courses, graduate students should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of business leadership necessary when analyzing business functions and processes, formulating effective business strategies and identifying characteristics of other leadership potential.


Requires an earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. Admission GPA Requirements: Option One - GPA required 3.00 or Higher: A 3.0 GPA calculated over the most recent 30 graded semester (45 quarter) credits completed in either a baccalaureate or post baccalaureate program, including credits earned toward a credential. All credits used for GPA calculation must be from a regionally accredited institution. Option Two - GPA between 2.50 and 2.99, qualifying score on GRE, MAT or GMAT. GRE: achieve the required minimum scores on two out of three of the subsections of the GRE. (Minimum score for Quantitative: 141, minimum score for Verbal: 150, minimum score for Analytic Writing: 4.5) Miller Analogies Test (MAT): achieve a minimum scaled score of 400. Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT): fulfill the formula GMAT + (GPA X 200) > 1000. Option Three - An earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution. Option Four - GPA below 2.50, Portfolio.
