Program Details

The online undergraduate Certificate in Child Life is designed for those with a bachelor’s degree seeking to complete coursework supporting academic requirements to take the Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) exam.  American Public University offers tools in communication to utilize in Child Life specialist fields.  Studies cover topics including but not limited to:

• Counseling and grief support
• Advocacy
• Theory and practice

Students will develop strategies and methods applicable to therapeutic activities building knowledge to help children through difficult times.  Courses are available entirely online, designed for working adult learners to be flexible and accessible.  All students must participate in fieldwork or internship hours, and may go on to pursue further academics in this field or licensing as a Certified Child Life Specialist through APU online.
