Program Details

Allen County Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Production Media for students interested in careers in multimedia. Students will build their proficiency in the utilization and application of multimedia in the production of computer graphics and designs. Students will learn to utilize premier programs such as adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, flash, and JavaScript as part of their training and development of graphic media abilities and techniques.

The program consists of classes which emphasize practical development of skill and techniques that utilize graphic design programs. Classes include introduction to Photoshop, fundamentals of web design, introduction to computers, college career success seminar, visual basic, foundations of graphic design, advanced Photoshop, adobe InDesign, Dreamweaver, digital photography, introduction to computer graphics, introduction to computer programming, macromedia flash, HTML, JavaScript, Microsoft office, and web page development.

Students completing the program will have demonstrated their educational and technical qualifications necessary for creating a marketing design. These qualifications include the ability to demonstrate entry-level professional Photoshop skills and effective decisions in selecting and editing images for marketing; to utilize distinctive color palettes based on the principles of color harmony; to create standards-compliant webpage layouts by hand-coding using HTML and publish them to the web; and to demonstrate the ability to research and select appropriate typefaces and design typography to support the branding or communication goal of a particular client or project.
