Program Details

The online Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Albertus Magnus University can prepare you to become a professional writer.  Students selected for this advanced program dive into the creative process and explore various genres alongside industry standards. A major writing project will be completed as part of this MFA.  This degree is offered as part of the FLEX program and can be completed entirely online, or with opportunities to interact on-campus for three Saturdays each semester.  Coursework is likely to include:

  • Seminar in poetry
  • The literary marketplace
  • Seminar in nonfiction

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA 
  • Official transcripts from all universities or colleges attended
  • Proof of proficiency in the English language (if applicable)
  • Proof of immunization in accordance with Connecticut State requirements
  • Connecticut Driver’s License or DMV Photo ID
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Essay (500 to 600 words, double spaced)
  • Writing sample
  • Writer's resume
