Program Details

Albany State University offers a Certificate in Medical Coding designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position as a medical coder.  Medical coders review patient medical records and assign numeric codes for each diagnosis and procedure.  Upon completion of this online medical billing and coding certificate, students are eligible to take the national credentialing exam for Certified Coding Associate (CCA). 

The curriculum covers topics such as health records, medical terminology, and advance coding.  Courses provide expertise in the International Classification of Diseases and Current Procedural Terminology Coding Systems.
