    School Overview

Alamance Community College first opened in 1958 as the Burlington-Alamance County Industrial Education Center, preparing students for work in industries, like textiles, and equipping future laborers with machine shop skills. By the 1970s, the school had expanded to include options such as secretarial courses, drafting, and technology. During this period, the campus also relocated to its current home along the Haw River in Graham, North Carolina.  As the school grew and evolved, it adopted the title Alamance Community College. ACC has since continued expanding, increasing acreage and facilities as well as broadening programs, including the addition of health and science fields, along with business and technology programs. Today, Alamance Community College awards Associate’s degrees and certificates in more than thirty fields of study housed in the schools of Business, Arts and Sciences, Health and Public Services, and Industrial Technologies.

In addition to degree programs, Alamance Community College also extends learning through the divisions of Online and Distance Education, Continuing Education, and Services for Business and Industry. With more than 100 credit courses online, students can choose to participate in coursework delivered one hundred percent online, hybrid learning combining online and face-to-face instruction, or Web-Assisted courses that primarily feature on-campus instruction supported by web-based  assignments.
