Program Details

The online AAS in Fire Protection Technology degree program from Alamance Community College is designed to provide students with the technical, managerial, and leadership skills necessary for employment or advancement within the fire protection community and related firefighting industries. Graduates are prepared to:

  • Safely carry out fire prevention, fire suppression, and arson detection/investigation
  • Instruct and supervise fire service personnel
  • Work within the law governing inspections, OSHA guidelines, code enforcement, and building construction
  • Develop safe and effective strategies for fighting fires and dealing with hazardous materials, and demonstrate an ability to predict fire dynamics and combustion

Requirements

  • Residency determination
  • ACT or SAT scores (a placement test may be taken in lieu of this)
  • Students with transfer credit for English or mathematics courses may not be required to take the placement test
  • Official high school transcripts (not required if the applicant has earned as Associate degree or higher)
