Program Details

The online music degree, Master of Fine Arts in Music Scoring & Composition, is a fine arts degree available from the Academy of Art University.  This program provides the highest level of training in music composition of scoring for visual media including film, television, and games.  The curriculum balances musicianship training with production skills to reflect changes in the music industry.  You will learn music theory, composition, harmony, orchestration, and arranging.  Courses focus on creating emotion through music in synchronization with visual media.  In addition, students learn to use the latest computer-based production workflows, digital audio workstations, and virtual instrument libraries.

Although similar to the Master of Arts degree, this degree requires a thesis project in your final year.
