Christian Education, Part 2

Religion-oriented Institutions

Southwestern Christian University and Alderson-Broaddus College are just two religious institutions of hundreds. Characterized by conservative and smaller campuses, they are a prime example of the general religious university. Each is governed by their own code ethics, which tailor the conduct of the campuses according to an ethereal law. In this, the students of each school are instilled with a sense of self and purpose that is attached to something higher than human law.

The motto of Southwestern Christian University states the ultimate goal of a Christ oriented institution well. It emphasizes the need to have well-educated individuals working with a sense of service. The university is dedicated to setting an example for its students, so that they in return can resurrect an ethical code in the professional world.

Finding the Perfect School

Today, thousands of students serve a greater cause through their everyday interactions and thousands more are waiting to join them. In the United States alone, there are more than 470 religious institutions dedicated to helping them along their way. These institutions all provide an education that includes a connection to something bigger than anything human hands could potentially create. This is the common denominator connecting the various religious institutions. However, every single school functions as an individual organism with its own personal characteristics. With hundreds of individual institutions available, there are a lot of characteristics to pick through.

There are some things a majority of them have in common, for example, most are privately funded institutions. However, knowing this does not help trim down the various choices. The first step in narrowing down any selection is to learn the various characteristics that work to differentiate something. Religious institutions are differentiated by accreditation status, degrees offered, enrollment totals, tuition and religious affiliation. Together, these things define the academic quality of a specific institution.

An institution could be either regionally or nationally accredited. It is good to know that regionally accredited degrees tend to be viewed with more respect than others and can influence future credit transfers and employability. Accreditation status also determines a student’s eligibility for financial aid. To receive federal and state aid, students must attend an institution that has been accredited by an agency authorized by the United States Department of Education. This is the only way an institution can qualify for Title IV student aid.

Pursuing a post-secondary degree is a large financial and time commitment. Choosing the best school with a reasonable tuition is essential. With so many institutions to sift through, finding the perfect fit might seem impossible. This is why databases exist to be utilized as a research tool. Using specific keywords, students can begin a search without wasting any time. Only schools offering the specific degree program in question will be presented for their attention.

Once the schools have been narrowed down by degree level, subject and subject focus, half the work is over. Every other individual characteristic can easily be found and compared using the Approved Colleges Comparison Tool. Comparing up to three schools at a time, this tool makes the perfect school a more obvious choice than ever before. Likewise, there has never been a better time to further your education and career.
