About University of Nebraska Medical Center
As Nebraska’s only public academic health sciences center, University of Nebraska Medical Center is committed to the education of a 21st century health care work force, to finding cures and treatments for devastating diseases, to providing the best care for patients, and to serving our state and its communities through award-winning outreach. UNMC also is committed to embracing the richness of diversity, and is a major economic engine for the state of Nebraska.
UNMC began as a medical college in 1880, and is now home to six colleges that award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as certificates:

- Nursing
- Dentistry
- Pharmacy
- Public Health
- Allied Health Professions
UNMC also offers graduate studies as part of the university-wide Graduate College. Each has its own admissions process. Online programs are offered through University of Nebraska Online Worldwide, which is the collaborative online initiative providing access to academically-respected degrees offered online by the four campuses of the University of Nebraska and University of Nebraska High School.
