About Harford Community College

Founded in 1957, Harford Community College, called Harford Junior College (HJC) at the time, had about 100 students from Bel Air High School who attended afternoon and evening classes. Today Harford Community College is a two-year public school of higher education in Bel Air, Maryland. The college’s mission is to function as “a dynamic, open-access institution that provides high-quality educational experiences for the community. The College promotes lifelong learning, workforce development, and social and cultural enrichment.” The school strives to be accessible, affordable, and to improve the quality of life in a multicultural community.

Harford Community College offers associate’s degrees in many areas of study, several certificates, and training classes for the community, senior programs, and youth camps. Students can conveniently take classes during the day, at night, or in combination with on-campus classes to earn an associate’s degree. In addition to attending full-time classes on campus, Harford Community College students can attend online and hybrid courses. There are a few degrees that are offered 100% online. With Hartford Community College online degrees may be more convenient for busy schedules, allowing students to study where they live. Those participating in online learning will have access to online support and library services.
