Program Details
Prepare for initial certification to teach 4th through 8th grade in the state of Georgia with Brenau University’s online Master of Arts in Teaching: Middle Grades Education. Finish your program in five semesters and advance your career as a qualified educator. This program is designed specifically for those who want to become teachers but earned their bachelor’s degree in another field.
Throughout your program, you’ll study an interdisciplinary curriculum and earn two concentrations alongside your degree. Concentration options include language arts, mathematics, reading, science or social studies. A reading endorsement is also built into the curriculum, so you’ll graduate with two valuable education credentials.
Brenau’s education programs are accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission for Teacher Education Programs (GaPSC), so you can be confident you’re earning an advanced degree recognized for high academic standards and quality. Brenau provides hands-on field experience through a student teaching or internship opportunity for a total of nine clinical hours. This requirement means you’ll be ready to meet the unique needs of today’s middle school students, addressing social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and physical dimensions of healthy adolescence.
When you graduate, you’ll be ready to take the Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators (GACE) exam and begin your career as a middle school teacher.
