Graduate Certificate in Engineering Management
Ohio University

Program Details

Ohio University’s online Engineering Management Certificate helps you use your background in engineering to build a future in management. This 11-credit hour graduate certificate can teach you how to manage specialized teams performing highly technical tasks. Learn to excel in planning, organizing, allocating resources and directing and controlling activities with a technological component. Credits earned in this program can be transferred directly to the Master of Engineering Management degree.

Upon completion of the program, you will be able to describe the four basic functions of engineering management — planning, organizing, leading and controlling — and identify principles and techniques to perform each one successfully. You’ll have the tools to complete project deliverables on time and under budget by applying concepts and techniques from the five process groups and ten knowledge areas described in the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). The curriculum also covers key legal principles, including intellectual property, contracts, torts and administrative law, to help you get things done the right way, the first time.

Program graduates can expect to excel among their peers in team leadership and supervisory roles in a wide variety of settings, including industry, government, the military and wherever technology and a technical workforce must be understood, managed and brought to consistent success.
