Stephen F. Austin State University - Perkins College of Education - Undergraduate
The James I. Perkins College of Education includes the Departments of Elementary Education, Human Services, Kinesiology and Health Science, Secondary Education and Educational Leadership, and the School of Human Sciences. Each offers programs of study in educator certification as well as in various non-teaching programs. The college is SFA’s largest, with more than 30 percent of Lumberjacks enrolled here. SFA was chartered in 1923 as a teachers’ college, so at its very core, the university is grounded in education. The Janice A. Pattillo Early Childhood Research Center is a standout facility. Opening its doors in 2009, this $30.8 million facility is home to the nationally accredited Early Childhood Laboratory, TEA “Gold Performance-rated” SFA Charter School and award-winning Department of Elementary Education. A global education awaits you in this college with students packing up and taking part in travel abroad opportunities to far-away places like China, Costa Rica, France, Italy and Spain. The college is fully accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. In addition, many of the programs have been nationally recognized through professional accrediting bodies.
