West Coast University is a private health-care oriented university with campus locations in Los Angeles, Anaheim and Ontario, California, and Dallas, Texas. West Coast University was founded in 1907, and was originally a small ophthalmology school. During its first 50 years, WCU offered a variety of programs including aeronautical engineering, applied sciences, and mathematics, and became one of the leading schools in offering bachelor degree programs geared towards meeting the needs of working adults to help their careers. In 2004, WCU began focusing solely on the education of health care professionals.
WCU is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. The BSN programs offered at the California campuses are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
WCU offers four bachelor degree programs that include Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), RN to BSN, LVN to BSN, and BS in Dental Hygiene. Master of Science programs are offered at the Los Angeles campus, and include Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Health Care Management, and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. The school also offers a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. WCU operates on a year round semester system, and has a rolling admissions process that allows students to begin throughout the year.

Student services sponsored programs are offered throughout the year and include entertainment and recreational activities. Student services also offers academic support to enhance in-class learning, which includes new student orientation, and day to day support such as tutoring assistance, and developing good study habits.
WCU has a career services department that provides professional and career assistance and guidance to students and graduates. Career services coordinators assist students with exploring the options that are available within their chosen degree, and help them create clearly defined career goals. Students can be connected with a variety of volunteer opportunities that give them real-world experience, and help them build their resumes. The career services team helps students and graduates make the transition from the academic world to the professional world. The career services department sponsors resume writing and interviewing skills workshops that help students write resumes and develop interviewing skills that will help them to secure a job. WCU has established partnerships with industry professionals that enhance the prospects for students and graduates career success.
To be admitted as an undergraduate student, applicants must participate in a qualitative admissions interview arranged by a university admissions advisor, submit a completed application for admission, submit proof of high school graduation, meet program specific entrance requirements, complete and enrollment agreement, and must be 18 years old before beginning clinical rotations. To be considered for graduate admission, an applicant must participate in a qualitative admissions interview arranged by an admissions advisor, submit a completed application, submit a copy of official transcripts showing the completion of an accredited bachelor’s degree program, complete an enrollment agreement, and meet program admissions requirements.
