The New Jersey Institute of Technology has incorporated a “four-pronged mission of education, research, service and economic development” in order to prepare students for the twenty-first century. Founded in New Jersey, in 1881, this public institution enrolls over seven thousand undergraduate and nearly three thousand graduate students. The tradition of research and development has continued with the birth of its distance learning courses. NJIT professors created and trademarked the “Virtual Classroom” phrase in the 1970s. Today, NJIT offers students the opportunity to finish Bachelor’s degrees and complete Master’s degrees and Graduate Certificates online.
The New Jersey Institute of Technology is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Higher Education. In addition, schools of study also hold individual accreditations. NJIT received the first Excellence in Technology Education Award presented by the New Jersey Technology Council. In addition, the National Security Agency designated the school as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education and NJIT continues to receive academic acclaims.
NJIT offers the following Master’s degrees (MS) completed entirely online:

Students have access to eLearning tools including Moodle to manage course content, NJIT on ITunes U to access and download select lectures and seminars, as well as individual login pages accessed via Highlander Pipeline to link to other applications, like the Endeavor Integrated Library System. Classes are delivered in both synchronous and asynchronous methods, yet retain flexibility for working professionals.
New Jersey Institute of Technology has recently restructured its tuition rates, easing the burden of college costs for out-of-state students. NJIT also offers financial aid and supports Stafford loans, private loans, Lifelong Learning Accounts, the HOPE Scholarship Tax Credit, Montgomery GI Bill and the New Post 9/11 GI Bill. Students should also check with their state of residency to seek further financial aid assistance. The NJIT Financial Aid office can help students with financial planning.
