School Details

Daytona opened its doors in 1996 as the Daytona Institute of Massage Therapy as a school dedicated to train students to be the very best at exactly that: massage therapy. About ten years after its inception the private college expanded its programming with the addition of the Aesthetic Skin Care, Cosmetology, Allied Health and Business programs. Daytona College trains students for employment in specialized, technical fields. At Daytona College, faculty and staff play a significant role in students’ lives as teachers, advisors and mentors while supporting the mission of the College. Daytona College has a diverse group of professionals with rich experience and exdivertise in the fields of business, healthcare, medical billing, massage therapy, cosmetology and skincare. Daytona is accredited through the Commission for Independent Education, Florida Department of Education and also holds various accreditations and certificates in individual programs of study.

Programs are divided into four main areas: beauty and wellness, business administration, allied health and online programs. In the beauty and wellness school Associate of Science Degrees are available in Therapeutic Massage and Skin Care and Natural Health—which actually prepares students in dual roles in the allied health and spa industry as a massage therapist and facial specialist. Both of these tracks use clinics and lessons in anatomy and physiology to prepare students for careers as licensed and registered professionals trained to work in the competitive area of resort spas and medical facilities. Other degrees in this school can be obtained in the Cosmetology, Therapeutic Massage, Aesthetics Skin Care, Nail Specialist and Full Specialist with Spa Services—getting students prepped for real world experience and into the real world in about a year.

Associate degrees are also offered in business administration and health information technology, medical assisting and medical billing and coding, in the business administration and allied health programs. Daytona also has strong selection of degree programs that stem from these areas. Those looking to hands-on experience and into their designated profession can obtain a degree in Medical Assisting and X-ray and Medical Billing and Coding, as well as certification as a nursing assistant and a home health aide. Students can receive a good number of these degrees and certificates from a distance as well, through Daytona’s online programs. The online programs also host many of Daytona’s continuing education classes—those available to community members, professionals or other individuals interested in enhancing their knowledge in certain subject matter. Examples include accounting and finance, teaching and education and writing and publishing.

For as long as students are enrolled at Daytona, they have access to the career services team that works round the clock to prepare students for starting their work in the real world This includes searching for prospective jobs, networking events, interview tips and anything else necessary to help students enter the workforce feelings 100% prepared.

Beyond the classroom and employment prep, students are kept very busy on Daytona College’s Ormond Beach campus. Aside from the draw of the sand itself, Daytona coordinated a wide range of activities so that every student can find their niche—be it in clinics, volunteer activities, community events and holiday parties and events.
