Accreditation Note: To qualify for a ranking, a program must be regionally accredited. Additional programmatic accreditation offered by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) is noted in the rank table.
Rankings Note: These online college rankings are based on a GetEducated Summer 2017 review of regionally accredited RN to BSN online programs. Most online BSN programs are online bachelor completion programs that require applicants to have already completed the equivalent of an associate's degree and to hold a valid RN license. Credits for completion of RN to BSN programs vary in the total number of credits required to complete the degree, the number of credits required to enter the program, the number of allowable transfer credits, and the available online nursing curriculum. Due to the wide range of program credits from school-to-school, this rank uses a weighted per credit rate. Flat-rate semester tuition rates and added fees were factored using the minimum number of credits and/or semesters required to complete the degree. The exact per credit cost may vary, due to students who require general education or elective credits beyond the minimum online nursing program credits required for BSN completion.
Per credit rates are based on “semester” calendar credits; thus, schools using quarter calendars were converted to semester rates for rank purposes only. True costs of “quarter-credit” degrees, along with number of total credits required to complete the program were not altered within GetEducated’s degree profiles. Prospective students should refer to specific degree profiles or request more information for more detailed costs. As with any program requiring state licensure, prospective students should check with their state of residency prior to enrollment in a nursing program.
Editorial Note: Online schools do NOT pay to be included in any GetEducated online degree ranking.
