Lancaster Bible College, a private non-profit Pennsylvanian institution founded in 1933, promotes its Christian heritage to encourage students “to think and live a biblical worldview.” Though the campus is small in nature with only a hundred acres and just over one thousand students, students attending come from thirty-two states and fourteen countries. Lancaster’s iLead Center supports adult learners and military personnel wishing to further their education by offering online programs focused in Bible Sciences.
A Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science in Bible degrees are available online, along with a Second Degree program and a Concentrated Bible Course Certificate. Eligible candidates for the Bachelor of Science degree must enter with 45 credits from an accredited institution and complete 30 semester credits in the program with a total of 120 semester credits maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA. Ten different Minors accompany this major including Children & Family Ministry, Communication, Intercultural Studies, Music Performance, Pastoral Ministry, Professional Counseling, Sports Management & Ministry, Student Ministry, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Women in Christian Ministry. By completing 36 credits in Bible and theology, students with prior Bachelor’s degrees can earn a Second Degree. The Associate’s and Certificate programs allow alternative options.
Lancaster Bible College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Association for Biblical Higher Education Commission on Accreditation. The College has affiliate status with the Council for Christian College & Universities and is a member of the Evangelical Training Association. Lancaster has also gained approvals from the Association of Christian Schools International and the United States Department of Justice. Teachers and counselors are certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the National Board for Certified Counselors, respectively.
Lancaster Bible College requires a minimum age of 25 for applying to the iLead program. Applicants must submit a personal commitment in the form of an autobiography, a transcript with at least 45 transfer credits and a minimum 2.0 GPA for entrance into the Bachelor of Science Degree program. Second Degree applicants must also submit transcripts. Additionally, international students must demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
Online tuition costs $410 per credit hour. Although grants and scholarships are limited, scholarships include a Church Matching Scholarship, a Financial Need Scholarship and a Full-time Christian Worker Scholarship. Federal aid and student loans are also available. Lancaster acknowledges military training for transfer credits and is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Consortium. Veterans should apply to the Department of Veterans Affairs for Certificates of Eligibility.
