Hi,

In most cases, you actually don't need a formal certificate or degree to teach online college courses. Experience teacher can give you an edge but is also not always necessary. Many online degree programs offer or require that new adjuncts or instructors take a short continuing education course (that they provide) on how to use the software system they use and on how to engage students online. SEE: How to Become an Online Instructor You can also enroll in a graduate certificate program which would give you all the basics of teaching online.

GetEducated profiles some great options that you may be interested in:

  1. Kansas State University Graduate Certificate in Online Course Design
  2. Thomas Edison State College Graduate Certificate in Online Teacher and Learning
  3. Northcentral University Post-Master's Certificate in E-Learning

If you are still set on earning your master's make sure to consult the education and instructional technology cost rankings.

Hi, as mentioned above a formal degree is not really needed. That is if you are not thinking of joining any particular online college. You have the option of going on your own too. You simply have to choose best software for online classes to conduct class. The only problem of going on your own is to find students online. I teach Physic online but for high school students. I am at it right from 2010 and am experiencing vast change in attitude of people. Online education is just taking baby steps and it will grow faster than anyone can imagine.
