Bachelor of Business Administration
York College offers a Bachelor of Business Administration degree for students who are interested in careers in managerial positions in business or other organizational environment. Students may develop required knowledge of the various aspects of business in which managers are involved, including personnel and staffing, issues of finance and accounting, and an understanding of human resources and the general operations of a firm in order to best manage and administrate its activities. In addition, they will study psychology and cultural issues and learn how to interact with employees in order to demonstrate leadership and the correct use of management.
Students should learn the responsibilities of managers and administrators through a curriculum which aims to develop their understanding of administration and managerial responsibilities and develop their leadership abilities. Those classes include Principles of Accounting, Introduction to Business, Technical Writing.
Upon completion of the program, students should possess the necessary educational and professional qualifications for roles in entry-level managerial assignments in businesses, governmental organizations, nonprofits, or community organizations. These qualifications include the ability to have an extensive and practical knowledge-base of theory, tools, skills, practices, and research related to business, and being able to apply these to the problems and opportunities that are encountered in the 21st-century business environment. Graduates should also be able to demonstrate effective professional and interpersonal practices essential in business, to develop a range of professional strategies that promote their effectiveness in a business environment, and to demonstrate ethical, legal, and responsible behavior and explain the broader role that business has in society and their own responsibilities as a member of the business community.
