The certificate may be ideal for entry-level students seeking the additional academics to pursue interests in writing books, plays, screenplays or poems. The course curriculum includes the opportunity for students to complete a workshop in writing for reading and critiquing published works and other students' rough drafts, and also writing personal pieces. A creative writing certificate aims to develop a students’ unique niche and improve individual and personal critiques and progression. Earning the additional education may also teach students to strengthen critical reading skills, when assessing short story and novel writing, poetry, screenwriting and script writing.
