Arizona General Education Curriculum - AGEC-B
Students who wish to gain the required general education courses from an online learning program as part of the Arizona General Education Curriculum-Business certificate may be ideal students for this program at Yavapai College. The certificate program is designed to fulfill the minimum coursework of a college or university’s general education requirements. The AGEC-B certificate is geared towards students planning on continuing their education at a four-year college or university. The business and liberal arts subjects will provide undergraduates with the solid understanding of critical concepts for personal or professional interests. The 35 credit hours can be delegated to individual studies as chosen by the student to apply in current careers or future aspirations. Yavapai College also offers the Arizona General Education Curriculum with an Arts concentration for students seeking an advanced education with a more Liberal Arts focus for students seeking an Associate or Bachelor of Arts degree.
The certificate will satisfy student’s minimum general education requirements for transfer in an Arizona public university. Students must communicate with the accepting schools counselors and advisors when transferring to an out-of-state college or university. The core AGEC-B curriculum consists of students gaining a comprehensive understanding of essential concepts to contribute to any professional environment. A foundational study in literature, mathematics, the natural and social sciences, writing, critical thinking, logic, humanities and history are combined with 3 mandatory classes delving into: Intensive Writing/Critical Inquiry (IWR), Ethnic/Race/Gender (ERG) awareness, and Global/International and Historical (GIH) awareness areas. Students will become well-rounded individuals, capable of critical thinking and ethical decision making in a dynamic business environment.
Upon completion of the 35 credit hours with a grade of “C” or higher, graduates have the potential to earn the certificate of completion on the Yavapai College transcript. Graduates may use the business focus to enter into fields such as accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, management, human resources and many other industries.
