Program Overview

Worcester Polytechnic Institute offers a Graduate Certificate in Systems Dynamics that is well suited for students who wish to become specialized professionals in the systems dynamics field. Students will customize their education by choosing five courses that vary in systems dynamics topics. Graduates of this certification will be fully prepared to work and apply their learned skills in the systems dynamics field. This specialized knowledge is necessary for employment in today’s systems dynamics career field and gives students a competitive edge while applying for jobs. This program is ideal for individuals who are already working within this field and want to enhance their performance or those who wish to enter.

The Graduate Certificate in Systems Dynamics Program consists of 15 total credit hours that may be completed on a part-time schedule. Students must take a required course and four courses of their choice. Students must complete the required course, Systems Dynamics Foundation: Managing Complexity. Other courses that students may select from include Modeling and Experimental Analysis of Complex Problems, Model Analysis and Evaluation Techniques, Strategic Modeling and Business Dynamics, Latent Structures Unintended Consequences and Public Policy, Introduction to Agent-Based Modeling, Strategy Dynamics, Environmental Dynamics, Project Dynamics, Macroeconomic Dynamics, and Special Topics in System Dynamics. These courses are designed to ensure that graduates are well prepared to handle specific tasks within the systems dynamics career field. This curriculum allows students to customize their education based on their interests within the field.

All classes for this program are available online. This online learning environment provides flexibility for enrolled students who are employed or have other obligations. Students must be highly disciplined to complete a large amount of coursework. Time management and word processing skills are very important for students who enroll in this certificate program. An undergraduate degree from an accredited university is required in order for students to be considered for the program.
